Semester Load Check
Fill this in before registration closes. If the hours-left figure is negative or near it, the plan needs changing now, not in week six.

Before registration closes
- Planned against the HIGH estimate, not the low one
- Institution's own published expectation checked first
- Labs and studios counted as heavier than lectures
- Paid work hours entered honestly, including busy periods
- Commute counted both ways
- Hours-left figure checked against a realistic week
- Weeks where deadlines cluster identified in advance
- Plan discussed with an adviser if hours left is under 30
Credits count class time, not the work
Twelve credits is twelve hours in class and another 24 to 36 outside it. A 'full-time minimum' is a 36-to-48-hour week before any job. That gap is the most common miscalculation there is.
The average hides the bad weeks
A weekly figure smooths over the weeks when three deadlines land together — and those are the weeks that actually break a semester. Find them on the syllabi in week one and plan around them.
