Exam Week Planning Sheet
One row per course: what you need, what is reachable, and how much time it is worth. Same arithmetic this calculator uses.

One row per course
| Course | Grade now | Final worth (%) | Target | Need on final |
|---|---|---|---|---|
The arithmetic
- Score needed
- (target - current x (1 - weight)) / weight
- Where you finish
- current x (1 - weight) + score x weight
- Best possible
- current x (1 - weight) + 100 x weight
- Worst possible
- current x (1 - weight)
- Weights are decimals
- 30% becomes 0.30
- Needed above 100
- the target is out of reach
Before you plan exam week
- Every course's final weight taken from the syllabus, not guessed
- Current grade checked in the gradebook, not remembered
- Any dropped-lowest or extra-credit rule found and noted
- Courses sorted by how much the final can still move them
- The ones already decided identified - do not spend a week on a grade you cannot change
- Resit or resubmission deadlines checked before exam week, not after
- Study time allocated to where the points actually are
Spend your time where it can still move
Two courses can need the same score and be worth completely different amounts of your week. A final worth 40 percent can swing your grade two whole letters; one worth 10 percent almost cannot move it at all. Work out the range for every course first, then give your time to the ones where the range is wide.
