There is no conversion between them without knowing what is in the cup, which is why every ingredient has its own number and why a single 'cups to grams' figure does not exist. Brown sugar, packed 213 g. Butter 226 g (two US sticks of 113 g). Honey 336 g. Milk 227 g. Rolled oats 89 g. Unsweetened cocoa powder 84 g. Water 236 g, which is simply its volume. Bread flour is also 120 g per cup - identical to all-purpose. The two differ in protein content, not in how much a cup holds, so there is no separate conversion to look up. ⚠️ FLOUR IS THE ONE THAT RUINS RECIPES, and it is not because the number is uncertain - it is because scooping is. A cup dipped straight into the bag compacts the flour and can hold 140 grams or more instead of 120. That is up to seventeen percent extra flour in a recipe where flour is the structural ingredient, and it is the single most common cause of dry, heavy baking. Why isn't there one cups-to-grams number?
